Saree measurements and how to care for handloom.
Size
A standard NiViH saree is approximately 5.5 metres, and about 6.3 metres when a blouse piece is included. Exact length and whether a blouse piece is included are listed on each product page under the saree's details.
- Blouse: where included, the unstitched blouse piece is typically 0.8m and can be tailored to your fit.
- Because these are handwoven, tiny variations in length, weave and colour are natural and part of the charm.
Caring for handloom
- First wash: we recommend dry cleaning for silk sarees, especially for the first few washes.
- Cotton & cotton-silk: gentle hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent; do not wring.
- Drying: dry in shade, not direct sunlight, to protect the colours and zari.
- Ironing: use a medium iron; place a thin cloth over zari and embellished areas.
- Storage: wrap in a cotton cloth or muslin and refold occasionally along different lines to prevent creasing.
Colour & weave
Handloom sarees are dyed and woven by hand, so slight irregularities and colour variation from screen to fabric are natural. Product photos are shot as accurately as possible, but actual shades may vary a little.
